NY steak strip was on point. Very good seasoned and cooked exactly as asked. The sides were also good but in small portions. Definitely will order again!

Great place to grab breakfast on the last day of vacation.Service is no nonsense and efficient. The food is prepared quickly and with high quality ingredients. Coffee is okay, but comes quick and refilled often.

We eat breakfast here every morning that we are in town. The staff is the best. The food is delicious. You may have to wait for a table but it's worth it.

This place is a Hatteras Island staple. It's a local diner hangout. The food is always good and the hush puppies are on point. Family friendly neighborhood feeling when your here. They always have fresh seafood from the local Marinas; this is on of my favorite things about Sonny's. This is a great place for a nice simple but great meal.

Had to sit at the bar because the wait was so long. Not necessarily a bad thing tho. The coffee was very good!

Food was excellent, simple, fresh, fast and no frills. The blackened mahi was light, flaky and buttery. We came with nine people and everybody ate everything on their plates. Order a little extra, the portions are a little small but no complaints here.Stilling thinking about the food even after I ate.

I've been visiting Sonny's since the late 80's, and Sonny would be so proud of what his place had become! Great food, great service, and friendly staff. Sonny himself is always taking the time to visit with customers, and us being regulars to the island we get to catch up with everyone. I myself love the Crab Cake sammich and the Blackened Chicken, by everything is a home run on the menu!

Good dinner. Great seafood. Had the captain's platter. Fish was great. Scallops were outstanding. Garlic and bacon mashed potatoes. Fried clam strips. And crab cakes. Only thing I didn't care for was the cole slaw. Drinks were fairly priced. Service was good. Drinks were reasonable priced. So was the food. Will eat here again. Hush puppys are free. Got a burger and fries to go. All good.

This is a wonderful place for breakfast. Staff is very friendly, you can actually go and sit down and order. Food is well prepared, we'll return again.

We have dined in numerous restaurants in the Outer Banks this week and this is by far the worst meal we’ve had. It is also about the most expensive at nearly $100 for three dinners excluding tip. We had to pay $4.99 extra to get hush puppies which were cold and not very good. The fried shrimp had a funky semi-sweet seasoning covering the taste of the shrimp. We ate flounder at other restaurants this week that was hot and fresh, but not here. The green beans and potatoes we had may be an acquired taste, but they could have at least been served hot. We greeted our server with a little humor, but she wasn’t very friendly. Her demeanor did improve before we left, but not to the point of winning my family back here. I know we all have different taste, but I think many of you will think the same if you try this place. It is way too expensive for the caliber of food served. It is not good.

Food was delicious, crab cakes are made with real crab meat, no complaints about anything we ordered.

My sister made me come two nights in a row. She said it was the best flounder EVER. The hush puppies were amazing! Waitress was great! Can’t wait to come here again next year!

9.99 for 2 tiny pieces of fish no idea how they are able to stay afloat. Wish I could share images...

My husband got the captain's plate and I got this dinner. Don't remember the name, but it was delicious. Erin our waitress was very good.

Just stopped in by chance for.lunch and was really impressed by the great quality food!! Will definitely be back!!

Last night it was stuffed flounder. Excellent. Good sized piece of flounder, topped with lots of crab imperial. This morning for breakfast I had French toast, eggs and bacon. Everything was cooked properly and served promptly by a friendly waitress. Always one of our favorites every time we come to Hatteras.

Expected a little bit better quality seafood by the reviews. The wait staff was nice and hush puppies were good. Unfortunately the scallops and clam strips were rubbery. A little better seasoning would go a long way.

Horrible service and waitress isnt nice at all shes rude and makes others wear masks but not workers or locals, very expensive and food wasnt good. They shpuld be ashamed of themselves

Service was great but toast was burnt and the potato wedges were burnt. Like, black burnt, not toasted...

We were recommended this restaurant by a kind Park Ranger that can't officially give out recommendations and we are glad he did. They have great comfort food and fast even with our party of eight. We are not locals, but it looks like a locals favorite.

Breakfast is huge! Tasty biscuits and huge pancakes.

We always stop here when in town for the fresh fried fish of the day. They also serve a crabcake that is excellent! The staff is friendly and service is provided in a timely manor. They are pretty busy when they open at 5 and would suggest if you want to eat in or order out, to be there a 4:50. This year (2020), we ordered take out due to the coronavirus pandemic and were pleased with the quality of food and professionalism of the staff adhering to the new guidelines to keep patrons safe.

It's a casual dinning place with great good. We ordered the crab bisque and it was creamy with a lot of crab meat. The Captain platter has good size scallops, a crab cake that has minimal filler, tender fried clam strips, shrimp with crunchy and tasty batter, and couple fried fish of the day. It also comes with 2 sides. The wait staffs were pleasant and efficient. Overall, it's a great option for some locally sourced seafood.

Good service and great food! We had shrimp and oysters which were well prepared and served hot. We also had Shrimp penne with marinara sauce. It was excellent.

Most people followed guidelines by wearing mask. Food and service outstanding. Will be back!

Good place with good food. The menu is simple but with enough variety for different tastes. We ate lunch here and the portions were plenty big for good appetites. My brother and I had the fish of the day, which was fried mahi. We enjoyed that a lot. My father had the Hatteras chowder and he enjoyed that too. Most importantly - we'd be happy to return again.

For the first time today I order the fish of the day meal, it was supose to come with rice/ chips and salsa. I received greenbeans and fries with the fish which was mahi. Worst part, it was not much food for 18.99 . Totally disappointed with the food and amount!!!!!!

Good fish and crabcakes.

Crab cakes were bland, frozen fries and onion rings. The seafood supreme was roughly a half a cup in portion size for an entree....All of this for $50. Maybe the in dining experience is better.

Oh boy! What a find! Not much open in early April. Asked a guy on the street and he said "Go to Sonny's and look for the trucks. Real good food" We both had the HOMEMADE crab cake sandwich. Local family run restaurant.

If you're looking for a more affordable option on the island but still want good food, this is the place! We had the lil John omelet and the sausage egg and cheese biscuit and they were both excellent. The biscuits are heavenly! Worth the trip.

Great little place, I've had fried shrimp at three different restaurants at Hatteras now and this was by far the best. Quick, friendly service.
